Myles' Weekend Adventures: The Exotic Dancer Gentlemens Club Owners Expo
Bonjour mon amis! Comment ca va? Myles Shaffer here. This column will obviously be about the best, if not the only, convention that deals with the Gentlemens Club and the feature performer industries. So let us now move along without any further ado.
The Exotic Dancer Gentlemens Club Owners Expo
I pulled out of my driveway a few minutes after 8AM, Tuesday, August 2, and headed for New Orleans for a week of fun, good music, and great food. Oh yes, and also for my main reason for going, to attend the Exotic Dancer Gentlemens Club Owners Expo 2016.
I spent that night in Lordsburg, New Mexico, after several bath room breaks, one of which was at the Phoenix, Arizona, Flying J where I also put a few gallons of gasoline into my tank just to be on the safe side, a stop to eat at the Casa Grande, Arizona, Golden Corral Buffet, and a stop at the Tucson, Arizona, Pilot Travel Center to fill up my gas tank.
I spent Wednesday night, August 3, in Junction, Texas. On the way there, I stopped to eat at a Golden Corral Buffet in El Paso, Texas. Once I had eaten my fill, I found my way to a Lucchese Boot Store. Yes, I am now the proud owner of a beautiful pair of Lucchese Alligator Boots that I cannot afford. After I left the boot store, I stopped at the Flying J on my way out of town and put five dollars worth of fuel into my tank. I then stopped at the Fort Stockton Flying J to put ten gallons of fuel into my tank.
Thursday, August 4, I made my way to Lafayette, Louisiana, where I spent the night after eating some great Cajun food at Don’s Seafood and Steak House.
On the way to Lafayette, I had to stop to get my oil changed at Fiesta Honda in San Antonio, Texas. After that I found my way to, what else, a Golden Corral Buffet. After filling my stomach, I filled up my gas tank at the Flying J on the way out of town.
Friday morning, August 5, I checked out of the motel and went up I-49 to my Cajun friends Sheryl and Russell Cormier’s house in the Carencro area. After visiting with Sheryl and Russell and two of their granddaughters, and having a great home-cooked lunch with them, I went to the Breaux Bridge Pilot Travel Center to fill up my fuel tank. After that, I drove the rest of the way to my time share hotel in New Orleans.
By the time I had arrived in New Orleans, I had eaten in a total of 29 Golden Corral Buffets.
The afternoon of Sunday, August 7, I went to the Hilton Riverside Hotel to pick up my press credentials for the Owners Expo. While there, I ran into Caroline Ashe, Krystal Dawn, Lexi Lamour, Dave Manack, Teresa Tearno, and Don Waitt. I think I also saw Kevin Pennington, but I don’t remember for certain. Come to think of it, I also saw and spoke with Big Mike as I call him. Mike is the very nice gentleman who always heads up the security crew during the Owners Expos.
That Sunday night, I went to the Déjà vu Showgirls, on Bourbon Street, to observe the Miss Pole Championship Contest, and the Miss Exotic United States Pageant. (I will write about the details of the evening as in the order of the competitors’ performances and who won what in my next column.)
Monday afternoon, August 8, I went back to the Hilton Riverside Hotel to attend the first day of the Owners Expo tradeshow.
The people I ran into and spoke with and the people I met for the first time on this day were: Kiki D’Aire, Eleanor the creator of the Continental Talent Agency and more recently Centerfold Features, LA Hef, the Hugh Hefner impersonator, Danali Knoxx, JayCee Lane, Aja Marie (when I first met Aja Marie at last year’s Owners Expo, she was going by the name of Asia. She has obviously since changed her professional name.), Asia Marie, Dave Michaels, Gia Nova, the owner of the San Diego, California, Expose Gentlemens Club Dino Palimotto, Puerto Rican Princess, Rio Rivers, Ruby Ryder, a bartender from the Miami, Florida, Tootsie’s Cabaret named Samantha, and a Tim McGraw impersonator.
Monday evening, instead of attending the opening night party, I went to the Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro to catch the Charmaine Neville Band’s first show of the evening. (Toward the end of her show, Charmaine dedicated a song to me. [it sometimes pays to know people in small but greatly appreciated ways.])
Tuesday it was back to the Hilton Riverside Hotel for the second day of the Owners Expo tradeshow.
On this particular day, the people I saw and spoke with were: Marica Hase, Kayla Kleevage, Naomi Knight, Lori Lane, Peyton Lynn, B J McNaughty, Natasha Nova, Reagan Reilly, Kelly Shabari, Layla Sin, Lady Sirene, Angela Sommers, Payan Spencer, and Kendra Sunderland. Of course this was in addition to many if not all of the people I saw on the previous day.
Wednesday afternoon, I attended the Owners Expo Bikini Bowl-a-Rama at the Fulton Lanes.
While waiting for the Bikini Bowl-a-Rama to start, I met and spoke at length with a lovely and charming bartender named Mallory. If wish to take this time to send out a huge thank you to Mallory for being so gracious and for helping me to kill a bit of down time in such a pleasant and thoroughly enjoyable manner.
Among others, Krystal Dawn and Naomi Knight took part in the bowling.
At one point in the afternoon I came across Rebeca Bardot. She and I sat and chatted for a while.
Once the bowling activity was finished, I decided to cut out about fifteen minutes before everything ended. So I left Fulton Lanes and walked back to the Hilton Riverside Hotel to catch the Riverfront Street Car back to my hotel.
A light rain started just as the street car pulled up to the station. By the time we reached the far end of the line, it was raining so hard that in the time it took me to walk across the intersection and enter my hotel lobby, I was drenched!
Even though the rain had lightened up before too long, I decided against attending the closing night party. As much as I would have liked to attend the party, I didn’t feel that I wanted to take a chance on possibly having to swim back to my hotel from the far end of Bourbon Street. (as it turned out, apparently there was no more than a few light sprinkles during the night. I know that with the exception of a very few light sprinkles that didn’t last more than a minute or two at the most, there was practically no rain to speak of during the day Thursday, August 11. Friday, August 12 was an entirely different and very wet story.)
I am certain that the closing night party was a good one. The party was held in three different clubs. If I remember correctly, it started in the Larry Flynt’s Hustler Barely Legal Club, then moved to the Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club, and then ended at the Déjà Vu Showgirls. In addition to its being a party, a good number of the ladies who had been competitors in Rio’s contests performed shows in all three of the clubs.
That will just about do it for now people. Be sure to read my next column to learn who the competitors in Rio Rivers’ contests were and who won what. Until then, everybody stay safe, have a great week, and live life as if there were no tomorrow!
Bonsoir et au revoir,
Myles Shaffer
