Directed by Jacky St. James, Emma Marx: Exposed is a New Sensations/Digital Sin production starring Penny Pax, Richie Calhoun, Riley Reid, Van Wylde, Samantha Hayes, Aidra Fox, and Ryan Driller.
With the Submission of Emma Marx: Exposed, Jacky St. James wraps up the most powerful film trilogy adult entertainment has yet produced. In this final episode, Emma suffers the loss of her lover and must find a way to return to the fetish she craves.
Pay close attention to the opening credits. Emma sports a black wig, heavily made-up eyes, and scarlet lips. She's sitting in front of a mirror that could be in any backstage dressing room; an array of make-up brushes are at her disposal. The scene is the key to the narrative because Emma is at last ready to re-enter the BDSM world.
St. James has brought back the original cast for a richly deserved encore. Riley Reid plays Emma's sister, Nadia, who is married to Ray (Van Wylde). In a repeat of the first two films, Nadia and Ray's sex scene opens the story with a contrasting vanilla flavor to Emma's bondage fetish. The carnal action is Riley Reid at her finest. What's more, her acting skills shine, reminding us she deserves supporting actor consideration for next year's awards season.
Richie Calhoun reprises his role as Mr. Frederick and, of course, Penny Pax is Emma. Penny's emotional range as an actress dominates the film with a performance is that is far above the normal porn fare.
Eddie Powell and Paul Woodcrest have redefined light and dark with a cinematography is that brooding and haunting. Splendidly shot scenes that use shadows and filtered illumination move the story forward. One that comes immediately to mind is Emma sitting in front of a window. Blanketed in shadows broken only by hazy light, she is overwhelmed with sadness and isolation.
There are five sex scenes with the final one being the most touching. Emma turns to a new BDSM guru, Michael (Ryan Driller) whose therapeutic approach re-energizes her fetish. Intimidating shadows, chains, and a blackened steel cage spark a reawakening that ends in quasi-bondage sex laced with tenderness.
Longtime porn fans know that new girls come and go like shooting stars. Make a splash, then flame out. Exposed presents two rising hotties who, if they play their careers right and brand their names, will shame that reality.
The gorgeous Samantha Hayes plays BDSM sub Rebecca for one sex scene with Frederick and Aidra Fox as Joelle engages him in a threesome with Emma. Aidra's scene is hands down the raunchiest of the movie so rewind and watch again!
The remaining hardcore romp is between Frederick and Emma and reveals how their relationship has grown. Emma says she feels more herself as Frederick's submissive than she ever did as the Emma everyone knows. "There was barely a trace of her left," she says. The now reborn Emma is "fearless," preferring risk taking to "putting limits" on her experiences.
Exposed is a five star film. It's accolades for the 2017 awards season are predicted by this year's XRCO honors which list several nominations for the second Emma film, Boundaries. It's up for Best release and Jacky St. James and Eddie Powell are in the running for Best Director.
But recognition does not stop there. This year Penny Pax and Richie Calhoun are nominated for Best Actress and Best Actor for their Boundaries performance. To round out the all-star cast, XRCO gives consideration nods to Riley Reid for Best Female Performer and Aidra Fox for Superslut.
