The Submission of Emma Marx: Evolved is a New Sensations release written and directed by Jacky St. James starring Penny Pax, Riley Reid, Violet Starr, Van Wylde, Jay Smooth, Damon Dice, Mickey Blue, and John Strong -- Rich Moreland Reviewer Rated: Power On!
After the success of the Emma Marx trilogy, Jacky St. James has forged ahead with a fourth film that explores Emma Marx's sexual evolution. Penny Pax reprises her role as Emma while Riley Reid returns as Nadia and Van Wylde as Ray. Newcomer Violet Starr appears as Emma's submissive, Mariah.
Evolved takes Emma into the next stage of her personal BDSM journey. Having lost her tutor and dominant in the final film of the original trilogy, Emma is ready to abandon her submissive role and take up the talents of a dominatrix.
The film has a tight pace that is evident from the beginning. Emma moves in with her sister Nadia who is separated from husband Ray and must take in roomies to keep the house out of foreclosure. The other renter, Mariah (Violet Starr), always wears black and parties through the night in the bedroom next to Emma's. A youngster who plays with the physical end of BDSM, Mariah has no real understanding of the psychological part.
Emma emerges as Mariah's teacher and mentor (there are scenes of slave training) and orchestrates the girl's first real sexual experience with a male dominant.
As the film moves forward, the theme of abandonment comes full circle. Emma, of course, has lost her long time love and Nadia is separated from Ray. Later Mariah, in turn, feels forsaken by Emma, who has trained her to be an authentic BDSMer.
Emma tells her it is time to find another dominant, explaining that their relationship was only temporary. Mariah reacts with anger. "Are you going to pawn me off on someone else? Is this how this works?"
Without warning, Mariah bolts, leaving no forwarding address. Emma once again feels abandoned.
The second major theme of Evolved is once again a Jacky St. James effort to inform the viewer that what is sexually normal is an individual decision. The issue is explored when Mariah questions if she can ever return to normal sex after being exposed to real BDSM.
St. James uses Emma's character to answer Mariah, informing her that what she is into is normal for her.
The sex scenes in Evolved are top notch. As is the custom with these films, Riley Reid and Van Wylde open the action. This time, Nadia tells Emma their sex is "hate sex" and she is loving it. The second sex scene is Mariah and a guy she picks up, Damon Dice. Afterwards he wants to shower and she throws him out. Hilarious.
The third scene finds Mariah with an experienced dominant Nicholas (Jay Smooth), an encounter set up by Emma who has prepared Mariah to use her senses to make sexual choices. Lastly, Emma decides to close the door on her own life as a sub by taking on two guys at once, Jay Strong and Mickey Blue. In this scene Penny Pax does a delightful DP.
The sex in Evolved is closer to gonzo than any of the other Emma Marx films. The girls are spectacular. Penny Pax and Riley Reid are already porn legends and Violet Starr will join them someday if this film is anything close to what she can do. Of particular interest in each scene is the girl's finger-licking dip into the cum after the pop shot, a gonzo touch rarely on display in a Jacky St. James feature.
By the way, shooters Eddie Powell and Paul Woodcrest are at their best in this film. They understand how to frame bodies for sex and focus on facial close-ups to capture the emotions that drive the story.
To enjoy Evolved to the fullest, pay close attention to the letter Emma receives. It's a touching metaphorical tribute to Jacky St. James and Penny Pax for the Emma series and sets up the film's closing. Reunited with Mariah, Emma says she never thought that BDSM would become her reality and she hopefully has taught Mariah that she, too, belongs in this world.
Jacky and Penny hope that we, too, will come to understand that every fetish is just another version of normal.
