The innovative idea behind Lesbian Sex 17 reflects what happens on a porn set when performers show up for the day. If they're shooting with someone new, they introduce themselves and establish their sexual parameters. On the other hand, if the performers have worked with their scheduled partners before, they may catch up on the latest gossip or chat about their personal lives.
Dan has moved this little-recognized and often incidental part of shooting into the main focus of this DVD.
Each pair of girls holds that conversation in front of the camera without the aid of an interviewer. For several minutes before moving on to their scene, they run through an array of topics, letting the discussion find its own way.
The tone of each conversation varies according to the personalities of the girls. For example, August and Penny are giggly and girly while Veruca and Stella are more workmanlike in their talk. To add more variety for the fan, the location changes for each session. For instance, Veruca and Stella sit at a bar while Natasha and Georgia talk as rain spatters against the windows. The other duos sit on the veranda in the sunshine when their turns come.
However, this is not a BTS (Behind the Scenes) extra typical of many DVDs. There is no interviewer wandering around looking for comments. Each girl is encouraged to say whatever she wishes and address whatever issues she desires. In fact, the girls end up interviewing each other.
Overall, the banter is playful, though the subject can be serious.
For the fan, it's an enticing inside look at porn stars. Here's a sampling.
The girls have commonalities. We learn they explored their bodies at a very young age and by their early teens had thoughts of snuggling up to other girls. Eventually things got physical so the first real sexual experiences inevitably showed up, a sort of porn girl in the making.
What is a little surprising is that watching porn as a kid seemed like a rite of passage for these hotties and, in time, getting into the business was a breeze once they made that choice.
August Ames and Vanessa Veracruz emphasize growing up Catholic and the restrictions that placed on them. August smoked weed and hooked up with classmates in her Catholic school. Vanessa, who calls herself "a little Catholic girl," mentions that her religious grandmother still does not know she's in porn.
On a serious note, Vanessa comments that the family scene is difficult for girls in porn, but for her she's gotten more respect on an adult film set than she ever had in a normal job.
Amusing scenarios are remembered. Penny Pax recalls sneaking around in the bushes with her girlfriends in elementary school before graduating, so to speak, to carrots and ice cubes as early toys!
Not surprisingly, for all the performers finger banging came early.
Other adventures no fan want to miss are Veruca James chatting about masturbating very young while Stella Cox talks about sex with girls who are not in porn. It's not easy figuring out if girls are lesbian, bi, or just into having girl/girl sex for fun, she declares.
The highlight of the Natasha Nice and Georgia Jones conversation is how to tell people you do porn. Georgia says, "I tell them straight up I do lesbian porn." On the flip side of that, Natasha seems most comfortable using "adult entertainer" when she lets others in on her career.
When it comes to the sex scenes that follow each of these preliminary shoots, it's truly showtime as only Girlfriends Films can deliver. Dan likes his girls to not look too "pornie," so there's minimal make-up and no over-the-top slutty clothes. They stay within the Girlfriends' "girl next door" look.
As expected, chemistry comes through on every shoot. There's lots of kissing, oral pleasuring, and vigorous finger banging. Two of the girls, Vanessa and Georgia, only do girl/girl which might lead one to think they are the best when it comes to the sex this film offers.
Not so, every performer in the DVD excels at pleasing and being pleased.
